Set your Zakat anniversary date (hawl). If unsure, use the 1st of Ramadan (~February 28, 2026).

List all gold and silver items with approximate weight in grams.

Check current market value of investments (stocks, mutual funds, crypto).

Note any business inventory held for sale.

List outstanding debts you owe (credit cards, loans due, bills).

Step 5: Pay Your Zakat

Choose a reputable Islamic charity (see our Best Islamic Charities 2026 guide).

Ensure you select the "Zakat" fund (not general donations).

Pay your Zakat al-Mal amount calculated above.

Keep a receipt for your tax records (Zakat is tax-deductible in many countries).

Record the date and amount paid for next year's reference.

Step 6: Zakat al-Fitr (Fitrana) — Before Eid
Fitrana is a separate obligation from Zakat al-Mal. It must be paid before the Eid al-Fitr prayer.
